Checklists that are downloaded from the SANParks BIMS include abbreviated citations for the sources of the occurrence information. For data from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), we include the names of datasets. Some sources are more reliable than others and knowing the sources of information provides information that can be used to determine confidence in the occurrence of a species in a protected area. The table below can be used as a directory to the source references on the system. To view the list of sources that do not originate from GBIF, simply click Data > Source References on the green menu bar. If you would like to view the occurrences of particular sources, you can search for the title under Study Reference on the Explore map and download individual datasets from the dashboard.
